The City Secretary is the Chief Election Official and is responsible for the administration of all city elections. The City of Hewitt conducts a general election on the first Saturday in May of each year. There are seven council members. Each council member serves a two-year term. In 2018, Council Members from Ward 1, Ward 2, and Ward 3 will be elected. More information will be provided in January of 2018. The next General Election is May 5, 2018, has been canceled. Council members for Ward 1, Place 2, currently held by Council Member Wilbert "Walky" Wachtendorf; Ward 2, Place 2, currently held by Council Member Bill Fuller; and Ward 3, Place 2, currently held by Council Member Steve Fortenberry filed an application for place on the ballot and upon the deadline to file all were unopposed.
